Words have the power to build us up and break us down. Self-talk is one of the most potent forms of accessing this power, whether we do it in helpful ways (which is rarer) or unhelpful ways (which is an epidemic).
In this video, I give examples of how we use words to abuse ourselves and break our spirits and then expect our minds and hearts to want to work heart and do well in the work of professional and personal success. It doesn’t work very effectively. What works effectively is practicing self-compassion and self-kindness in our internal, mental scripts because that practice brings the best out in us, and helps us bring out the best in others.
Would love to read your comments and suggestions for other video topics. What would you like to chit-chat about?
Fine me on Insta @maya.sanyal.phd and on Facebook at Maya Sanyal.
With love and blessings, and may the power of the word be with you every day,
— M
